New to the Projects: Oil Experimentations

Gagaabstract1CloseUp.jpg

A new year brings new challenges to face, new memories to be made and new stories to tell.

During the past few months I’ve experimented with oil painting further and am in the infant stages of developing my own style within this relatively new medium. I continue to ask myself every time I pick up my paint brush: “how do I navigate a new medium?” and “how do i find my own voice within this medium?” Two questions I will probably ask myself every time I pick up another paint brush in the future.

Each painting was completed in one sitting because A) I was impatient and B) I was impatient and eager. Traditionally, oil painting is a slow process with many steps including the sketch, the underpainting, the glazing and so on and so forth. I took my infant stage discovering oil painting almost literally to the point where I’d lather paint quite liberally on the canvas. For me, bringing out my inner child and practically experimenting with the quality of the medium allowed much more creative freedom.

Enjoy this selection of new, raw pieces.

Take care,
